Rock history… or rock courtroom drama? 🎸⚖️

On this day in Music History 18th April 2016

On this day in music history, in a twist worthy of a guitar solo, a US court ruled that Robert Plant and Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin had to face trial over one of the most iconic songs ever recorded Stairway to Heaven.

The case was brought by Michael Skidmore on behalf of the late Randy California (Randy Wolfe), guitarist of the band Spirit. The claim? That the legendary opening of "Stairway"bore striking similarities to Spirit’s instrumental “Taurus” a track that dates back to the late 1960s, when both bands even shared the same bill.

It’s a story that dives deep into the DNA of rock music where inspiration, influence, and originality collide. Was it coincidence? Creative crossover? Or something more?

This wasn’t just a legal battle… it was a clash over one of rock’s most sacred anthems.
