On this day in Music history 4th April 2016

On this day in music history the world was still coming to terms with the loss of the one and only David Bowie and the charts told the story of just how powerful his legacy truly is.
Following his passing in January, fans old and new turned back to his extraordinary catalogue in huge numbers. Bowie dominated the UK album charts, with an incredible six albums in the Top 40 a rare and emotional moment that showed the depth of his influence across generations.
At the heart of it all was his haunting final masterpiece, Blackstar, released just days before his death. The album became the second best-selling record of 2016 so far, sitting just behind 25 by Adele a remarkable achievement for such a bold, experimental farewell.
From Ziggy Stardust to Blackstar, Bowie never stood still constantly reinventing himself and redefining music, art, and identity.
